Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 201 × 309 cm. The covered area is about 6.21 m² (6.6' × 10.1'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
