The piece in short
A Isfahan from Iran, measuring 106 × 155 cm. That is roughly 1.64 m² of floor, about 3.5' × 5.1'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 600,000–699,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
