The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 256 × 349 cm. That is roughly 8.93 m² of floor, about 8.4' × 11.5'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
