The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 104 × 160 cm. It covers approximately 1.66 m², or 3.4' × 5.2'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
