At a glance
Hand-knotted in China: a Oriental rug of 346 × 272 cm. It covers approximately 9.41 m², or 11.4' × 8.9'.
Construction
The pile is wool, on a warp of cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as approx. 50 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is under 200,000 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is black and grey. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
