Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 224 × 270 cm. It covers approximately 6.05 m², or 7.3' × 8.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
