Overview
Origin Iran, format 104 × 144 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.5 m² of floor, about 3.4' × 4.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
