About this rug
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 103 × 147 cm. That is roughly 1.51 m² of floor, about 3.4' × 4.8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
