The piece in short
A Tabriz from India, measuring 200 × 300 cm. The covered area is about 6 m² (6.6' × 9.8'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
