The piece in short
A Tabriz from India, measuring 198 × 295 cm. It covers approximately 5.84 m², or 6.5' × 9.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
