Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 298 × 198 cm. It covers approximately 5.9 m², or 9.8' × 6.5'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Construction
Stated material: new wool, silk warp. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as approx. 18 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
