The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan: a Mamluk of 249 × 305 cm. That is roughly 7.59 m² of floor, about 8.2' × 10'.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated condition: new.
