Overview
Origin India, format 246 × 354 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 8.71 m², or 8.1' × 11.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Period
Stated condition: new.
