The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 140 × 205 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 2.87 m², or 4.6' × 6.7'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Period
Stated condition: new.
