Hand-Knotted Persian Rug, 78 × 375 cm, Wool

The piece in short

Hand-knotted in Iran: a Oriental rug of 78 × 375 cm. That is roughly 2.93 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 12.3'.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 12-15mm.

Where it fits

This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Period

Stated condition: new.
