At a glance

Origin Iran, format 148 × 203 cm — a Moud made entirely by hand. That is roughly 3 m² of floor, about 4.9' × 6.7'. Moud rugs are known for their fine Herati pattern.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

Colour and appearance

It is catalogued under multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
