The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Qom of 140 × 200 cm. That is roughly 2.8 m² of floor, about 4.6' × 6.6'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated condition: new.
