Overview
A Qom from Iran, measuring 146 × 216 cm. It covers approximately 3.15 m², or 4.8' × 7.1'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
