Overview
Origin Iran, format 214 × 137 cm — a Sarouk made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 2.93 m² (7' × 4.5'). Sarouk rugs are known for dense knotting and floral motifs.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as approx. 10 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
