Hand-knotted in Iran: a Sarouk of 215 × 144 cm. The covered area is about 3.1 m² (7.1' × 4.7'). Sarouk rugs are known for dense knotting and floral motifs.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as approx. 9 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
