About this rug

This Oriental rug comes from Iran and measures 207 × 131 cm. That is roughly 2.71 m² of floor, about 6.8' × 4.3'.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as approx. 9 kg.

The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
