The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan: a Ziegler of 168 × 247 cm. That is roughly 4.15 m² of floor, about 5.5' × 8.1'. Ziegler rugs pair Persian pattern forms with muted, faded palettes.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
