The piece in short
A Tabriz from India, measuring 168 × 215 cm. The covered area is about 3.61 m² (5.5' × 7.1'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
