Overview
A Tabriz from India, measuring 81 × 302 cm. That is roughly 2.45 m² of floor, about 2.7' × 9.9'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Size and placement
A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated condition: new.
