Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 300 × 200 cm. That is roughly 6 m² of floor, about 9.8' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: Korkwolle. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated condition: made 1970–1979.
