Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 206 × 304 cm. It covers approximately 6.26 m², or 6.8' × 10'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Format and use
A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
