Overview
Origin Iran, format 163 × 270 cm — a Shiraz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 4.4 m² of floor, about 5.3' × 8.9'. Shiraz rugs come from a nomadic weaving tradition.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Size and placement
A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
