About this rug

This Nain comes from Iran and measures 357 × 258 cm. It covers approximately 9.21 m², or 11.7' × 8.5'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, Korkwolle, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 6 mm. Weight is given as ap.22kg.

Where it fits

The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 1,000,000+ knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
