The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 155 × 215 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 3.33 m² of floor, about 5.1' × 7.1'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
