The piece in short
A Nain from Iran, measuring 78 × 212 cm. That is roughly 1.65 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 7'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Format and use
The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
