The piece in short
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 205 × 302 cm. The covered area is about 6.19 m² (6.7' × 9.9'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
