Overview

A Kilim from Afghanistan, measuring 117 × 84 cm. It covers approximately 0.98 m², or 3.8' × 2.8'.

Construction

Stated material: wool. The rug was hand-woven throughout. Pile height is given as 4 mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

How it is made

As a flatweave this piece has no pile: front and back carry the same pattern, and it lies very flat.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.

Period

Stated condition: 2000 bis jetzt.
