About this rug
A Malayer from Iran, measuring 365 × 84 cm. That is roughly 3.07 m² of floor, about 12' × 2.8'.
What it is made of
The pile is Handgesponnene Wolle, on a warp of cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 12 kg.
Size and placement
At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
The stated colourway is multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
