Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 340 × 250 cm. The covered area is about 8.5 m² (11.2' × 8.2'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is Braun / Gelb. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Age
Stated condition: made 1970–1979.
