Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 400 × 300 cm. That is roughly 12 m² of floor, about 13.1' × 9.8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: 100% wool, silk. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 8 mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 600,000–699,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as multicolour, Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
