The piece in short
Hand-knotted in India: a Tabriz of 250 × 349 cm. The covered area is about 8.73 m² (8.2' × 11.5'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
