Overview
This Tabriz comes from India and measures 244 × 307 cm. That is roughly 7.49 m² of floor, about 8' × 10.1'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
