Overview

Origin China, format 257 × 348 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. That is roughly 8.94 m² of floor, about 8.4' × 11.4'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
