Overview
This Tabriz comes from India and measures 170 × 243 cm. That is roughly 4.13 m² of floor, about 5.6' × 8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Period
Stated condition: new.
