A Qom from Iran, measuring 137 × 201 cm. The covered area is about 2.75 m² (4.5' × 6.6'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
