At a glance
This Tabriz comes from India and measures 201 × 244 cm. It covers approximately 4.9 m², or 6.6' × 8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Period
Stated condition: new.
