The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 200 × 200 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 4 m², or 6.6' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, Korkwolle, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
The rug is round. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
