Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Bakhtiari of 200 × 145 cm. That is roughly 2.9 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 4.8'.
Materials and construction
Construction: wool, silk in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 7 kg.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
