About this rug
A Bijar from Iran, measuring 243 × 252 cm. It covers approximately 6.12 m², or 8' × 8.3'.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as wool, warp as cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 22 kg.
Format and use
The rug is square. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
