About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Sarouk Farahan of 313 × 219 cm. The covered area is about 6.85 m² (10.3' × 7.2'). Sarouk rugs are known for dense knotting and floral motifs.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 12 mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated condition: 2000 bis jetzt.
