Overview
A Hamadan from Iran, measuring 333 × 410 cm. That is roughly 13.65 m² of floor, about 10.9' × 13.5'. Hamadan rugs are typically sturdy and geometrically patterned.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
