The piece in short
A Heriz from Iran, measuring 246 × 329 cm. It covers approximately 8.09 m², or 8.1' × 10.8'. Heriz rugs usually carry a bold, angular central medallion.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
