Overview
Origin China, format 248 × 335 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. That is roughly 8.31 m² of floor, about 8.1' × 11'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Stated material: Korkwolle, new wool, silk warp. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
