About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 108 × 164 cm. That is roughly 1.77 m² of floor, about 3.5' × 5.4'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
