Overview
Origin Iran, format 207 × 325 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 6.73 m², or 6.8' × 10.7'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% silk. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as black and grey. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
